Get a Grip! 5 Week Hand Building Course

$400.00

A hands-on pottery course for beginners and beyond

Step into the world of clay and bring your ideas to life using the three foundational hand-building techniques: pinching, slab building, and coiling. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to deepen their practice, this course is designed to meet you right where you are—with no experience necessary.

You’ll have the freedom to follow your own creative path and make something that truly speaks to you. Whether it is making a collection of table ware, a one of a kind sculpture, or trying a bunch of new techniques.

This course is all about play, process, and personal projects. There’s no pressure to make “perfect” pottery—just the joy of creating something with your own two hands.

When: See optional dates below

✨ What’s Included:

  • Max 8 students = loads of one-on-one guidance

  • All materials, tools + unlimited making & firing included

  • 5 weekly sessions of tactile, meditative, skill-building clay play

  • Held in heritage building of Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio tucked behind Glebe Library

🎨 What We’ll Get Up To:

  • The juicy basics: how clay works (and why it’s weirdly addictive)

  • Pinching, slabbing, coiling, and all the joining magic in between

  • Surface decorating: textures, colour, pattern play

  • Glazing 101 (aka: “the mystery coat that turns into glass”)

  • Following your own creative vision—big or small, functional or funky

Your finished ceramics will be food, dishwasher, and microwave safe, ready for pickup 4-6 weeks after course is finished.

Whether you're here to try something new, unwind after work, dive deeper into your clay obsession—this is your space to experiment, explore, and get a grip on clay.
