Pinch Me! I’m Making Pottery

$80.00

A relaxing and creative hand-building class for beginners and clay lovers alike

Yes, you are making pottery! Whether you're brand new to clay or already have the clay bug, this beginner-friendly class is the perfect introduction (or re-introduction!) to the art of hand-building.

👐 What You’ll Learn

In this 2-hour workshop, you'll get hands-on experience with the three fundamental hand-building techniques:
Pinching
Slab building
Coiling

With 500g of clay and your imagination, you’ll be guided to create your own unique piece — whether that’s a bowl, vase, mug, sculptural piece, or trinket dishes. There’s no pressure and no rules — just clay, creativity, and calm.

🧘‍♀️ The Vibe

Held in the serene and charming heritage-listed Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio, tucked away behind Glebe Library, this class is designed to be a relaxing escape from the everyday.
With a small group (max 8 people), it’s a cozy, welcoming space to
slow down, get muddy, and meet like-minded creatives.

🔥 What Happens to Your Piece

After class, your creations will stay in the studio for two magical kiln transformations:

  1. Bisque firing – The first high-temperature firing (1000°C) removes all moisture and hardens your piece.

  2. Glaze firing – Your work is then glazed in a white glossy or white matte finish of your choice. The speckled clay underneath shines through beautifully!

Your finished ceramics will be food, dishwasher, and microwave safe, ready for pickup 2–4 weeks after class.

🌱 What's Next?

Fallen in love with clay? (Spoiler: you probably will.)
Keep the momentum going with our
"Get a Grip!" 5-week clay play course — a deeper dive into hand-building for both beginners and returning enthusiasts.

All materials, firings, and tools are included. Just bring your curiosity.
Come pinch, play, and create. We’ll take care of the rest.
